| Testimonials Coming from the Metro-East St. Louis area, I have pretty much taught myself everything I know about wine over the nine years that I've been in the wine industry. There hasn't been anyone for me to learn from who knew more than I did, or who really could teach what they did know, with the exception of an occasional afternoon seminar in Chicago and a two-day seminar with the Court of Master Sommeliers I attended a few years ago. I would read the trade magazines and other books, and then pass the information along to our staff in daily preshift meetings and weekly wine classes I'd conduct with our server staff. But I really felt the need to connect with wine people who knew more than I did, people who could answer questions that I wasn't getting answered. Then I discovered the St. Louis Wine Clinic. It met at an inconvenient time for me, it would take over an hour to commute round trip, and cost $250.00. Eight sessions later I can tell you that it's the best time and money I've spent on wine education. It took me to the next level of understanding that I couldn't have achieved on my own. The presenters spoke with the insights of people who had visited the different wine regions of the world. They can tell you how to differentiate between a Sauvignon Blanc from New Zealand and one from Bordeaux. They have helped me learn far more about "blind tasting" and identification of different grape varietals and regions than I have found referenced in any book. And they've done all of this in a fun, winsome, and down-to-earth way. I also met great people from the St. Louis area, both wine-industry professionals and people not in the industry who just want to learn more about wine. Now that it's complete, I miss our Sunday afternoon group and look forward to attending other St. Louis Wine Clinic events in the future.
